French midfielder Gerald Cid is the latest player to run for the continent and make disparaging remarks about the club he abandoned. Cid said of his former club Bolton:
“Some people have told me that I was mad to leave. But I could not see myself remaining on the bench or playing on the left for several more months.
“As soon as I knew the door was open to go I did not need to give it much thought.
“I feel as though I worked less during training sessions than I ever did in France.
“We kept all of our energy for the matches. We would have a long warm-up, small games, but often every day was the same.
“To me training sessions are important if you want to improve, and that was not going to happen.”
Cid, 24, left Bolton for Nice last week after playing just 14 times for the Trotters. So is it a case of “good riddance Cid you whiny git” or was he actually a decent player.
