We have had a few glorious days without the “Berbatov to sign for…” guff, but now the rumour is back like a rancid transfer boomerang. According to soccer soothsayers The Sun, Juande Ramos thinks it is still possible his Bulgarian star will leave. Pretty bloody unlikely, but still possible nevertheless.
The Spurs gaffer admitted:
“There is always a risk he could go while the transfer market stays open. Berbatov is a great player, so it is normal there is some interest from other clubs. But he is happy and enjoying playing for Tottenham and we rely on him a great deal. So it would have to be an offer from a very big club with a very big contract to make him leave us.”
The thing is, which club is in the market for a striker and has the huge truckloads of dosh needed to secure his signing? Newcastle United, anyone?
