Tottenham Hotspur might have bagged defender Jonathan Woodgate from Middlesbrough as the January transfer window starts to shut down but they might not able to sign Tiago from Juventus. Goal.com reports that talks between the two clubs have failed at the last minute and, as of now, Tiago wouldn’t be joining Spurs.
Tiago, formerly at Chelsea and Lyon, has been a key target for Spurs manager Juande Ramos and it was almost certain that the Portuguese international would return to London, this time to White Hart Lane. But the two clubs have failed to come at any conclusion.
Manchester City for one would be happy that the deal has fallen through. They too are interested in singing midfield hardman Tiago and the latest development in the Juventus-Tiago-Spurs affair may give them a window of opportunity to launch their own bid for the 27-year old.
