Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor is a generous man. Football UK reports that he has publicly called for calm between him and his strike mate Nicklas Bendtner.
The Gunners duo clashed towards the end of the Carling Cup semi-final second-leg defeat by Spurs at White Hart Lane, with Bendtner receiving a cut nose in the duel. Much was made of the incident in the press but now the Togo international has called for a truce between the two strikers and says the incident is firmly in the past. Adebayor said:
”It’s all finished because we are all footballers and we all play for Arsenal and that is more important. You need sometimes to talk and wake ourselves up, and that’s what we’ve done on Tuesday – and at the moment everything is behind us and is finished.”
It may have been over between you two, Emmanuel, but your manager Arsene Wenger may not be too eager to let the incident rest. Fines are expected to be imposed soon.
