The highlight of Chelsea’s 2-1 FA Cup win at Wigan Athletic was Nicolas Anelka’s first goal for his new club. Fox Sports quotes the former Liverpool and Arsenal striker as saying after the match:
”I knew my chance would come. I’m new at the club and in the team, so the best you can do is create chances. I’d hit the bar twice in other games, but there has been no need for panic because I knew I would get more chances.
”Against Wigan, I got one and scored, so it’s good. But I’ve been a striker since I was very young, so I know the game and I know how to be patient and that I have to be patient, and that’s the way I’ve been since I arrived.
”I know I have to play well first, to be confident in my game, and then the goals will come. So there’s no pressure on me.”
Anelka is certainly happy that his Chelsea career has got off to a flyer but Wigan are at best modest opposition. More difficult tests await the Frenchman but one can expect him to do well with the class and quality he possesses.
