Birmingham City were snubbed by defender Gary Cahill who decided to join Bolton Wanderers instead of Birmingham from Aston Villa. ComeonBoro quotes him as saying:

This is a player we chased very hard, but in the end despite matching the best offer that Villa received and then making him the best personal financial offer, Gary decided that saw his future playing career away from the midlands.
Actually, Cahill wanted to leave Midlands for good and it was Birmingham’s geographical location more than anything else that dissuaded the player from embracing them.
