Two out, one in for Everton - a good deadline day?
by Dexter on February 1st, 2008 Despite Everton manager David Moyes’ declarations that he didn’t expect to have a busy transfer deadline day, the Toffees actually had quite a lot of transfer activity, moving two players out and bringing one in on loan.
Veteran defender Alan Stubbs was shipped off to Derby County, Brazilian midfielder Anderson made a permanent switch to Barnsley, whilst Tottenham defender Anthony Gardner was brought in to Goodison on loan.
Derby boss Paul Jewell seemed over the moon with the acquisition of Stubbs, saying:
“It’s a terrific capture for us.
“Stubbsy is a first-class pro, someone who has been there, seen it and done it.
“I’m delighted to have him on board and he will add experience and steel to the backline.
“He will train with us on Friday and is very much in contention for a place in the team on Saturday.”
So has the last minute wheeling and dealing by Moyes left Everton in a stronger position?

Anderson never played, werent good enough, Sutbbsy too old and Gardner tall and strong so yeh Everton in a stronger position than this time yesterday

Time will tell of course. But I remain guarded. I liked Stubbs but he wasn’t in the mix whether he hasn’t met Moyes’s fitness level that could be it. Gardner is a enigma not a bad pickup but syays crocked a lot. So if we can put him through the paces and stays healthy this could be a good move. I’m hoping it not VDM part deux.

Now now lads
lets behave
I as a liverpool fan would love everton to finish fourth, It would be marvelous for a SMALL team to achieve that! However my only condition would be for the mighty reds to win the euro cup for the 6th time,
Maybe everton fans would say we havn`t got a chance but hey im sure a sensible bookmaker would put them on similar odd.
Youll never walk alone lads and all credit to the blues for punching above their weight .
