Avram Grant: I am happy with draw

Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Portsmouth in the English Premier League on Saturday has forced them to stay third in the table, 6 points behind new league leaders Arsenal. But that doesn’t deter Chelsea boss Avram Grant who retains his optimism and even praises his players’ performance against Pompey at Fratton Park.

Goal.com quotes the Israeli as saying:

It’s unfortunate we’ve didn’t get all three points, I felt we’ve played good counter-attacking football against Portsmouth, and I like it. We certainly created plenty of chances but just could not score the goals.

What about the title challenge? Is it still there for you, Mr. Grant?

We did a great job for the past nine games. It’s good for the club and the morale of the players. But for now, we will have to concentrate on our next match and do our best. I’m very proud of my squad. Many people have said last September that we will not do well without our key players. But it has not happened and we’ve done really well. I’m really happy with team. They have shown quality and winning spirit. And for me, that’s very important.

Seems like yes is the answer. Well, best of luck then. Carry on the challenge.
