Benjani: I want to play for Man City

Sky Sports quotes the Portsmouth striker Benjani as saying that he wants to join Manchester City and that he is hoping that the uncertainly over his move to the Easrlands is dealt with soon.

Benjani was all set to join the Premiership high flyers but failed to turn up in Manchester before the Thursday night deadline. Man City’s appeal to the Premier League is being looked at thoroughly.

Benjani says:

I’m still hopeful that the move will go through. I want to play for Manchester City. I had to drive from Portsmouth up to London to catch my flight at 7pm. I got there in time but the flight was cancelled. By the time I got up to Manchester, it was too late to get everything done in time. I’m here and still hoping everything can be sorted out so that I can continue my career with Manchester City.

Benjani is then eager to play for Man City but Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp wouldn’t be in too much of a hurry to see the Zimbabwean striker leave Fratton Park.
