For those who follow the Italian Serie A would certainly have observed a certain Amauri at a certain Palermo. The 27-year Brazilian is one of the hottest properties in Italy and has been linked with a number of clubs, including Real Madrid and Juventus. But not Manchester United.
Not until now that is. Setanta Sports quotes the player publicly inviting Sir Alex Ferguson to watch him play in a Palermo shirt. The player is confident that after the Scotsman has watched him play, he would join in the race to acquire his supposedly priceless signature.
Amauri says:
Milan, Barcelona, Juventus and now even Chelsea. Oh and there’s even Real Madrid. Manchester United? Let’s talk with Ferguson. Why doesn’t he come and watch Palermo and then maybe they will enter the race to sign me?
No doubt that Amauri is worth a player watching but maybe he is tempting fate. Listening to him in the press conferences would make you feel hat he is the best player in the world. But maybe Amauri needs to get his feet back on the ground. He might be worth a shot at the biggest clubs in Europe but he is 27 years of age and so far hasn’t been called up for international duty to the Brazilian squad.
