The Guardian reckons that England manager Fabio Capello isn’t finished yet with his culling of some of the old guard and is set to drop Michael Owen for today’s game against Switzerland. Guardian journo Dominic Fifield writes:
“Despite a first Premier League goal for Newcastle in four months on Sunday and the timely public backing of his club manager, the former England head coach Kevin Keegan, Owen may not initially have the opportunity to add to his 88 caps and 40 goals against the Swiss this evening. Capello has favoured playing one up front in training this week and Wayne Rooney is likely to be given the nod.”
Capello obviously refuses to give extra kudos to players boasting hordes of England caps, but will the new regime get a victory today?
