England head coach Fabio Capello might not have been too impressed by the shape of things at Wembley when England beat Switzerland 2-1 in an international friendly but England winger Joe Cole is perfectly contented with the win. ESPN Soccernet quotes the Chelsea midfielder as saying that although work needs to be done, everyone should feel happy that England won the game.
It was nice to get a win under our belts at Wembley after the last game, and it was the perfect result really. We did not win three, four or five nil, with everyone getting too excited. It is something to build on and there were some good performances. We took everything on board and are all happy with the work we have put in over the three days and got the job done. Any manager coming in wants to get his ideas across, they have worked hard and so have we. We are trying to get the right idea and the right way of playing. He speaks great English, obviously he has given his reasons for not speaking [in English] to the media. But we all understood our jobs and can only get stronger from here. The manager is reasonably happy, but there are still things to work on. In a way it is good, because you do not want to go out there all guns blazing.
But work remains to be done, especially on the technical front which Capello believes England are under par.
