Finally someone from the Liverpool camp accepts what we have known for much of the time: Liverpool are simply not good enough to compete for the English Premier League title. Of course, at the start of the season, the Reds were being touted as winning the title this time around and with the signings that they made in the summer, they were clearly up for it.
But like every other season under Rafael Benitez, Liverpool havelost their way even before the midway point of the season has been reached. Veteran defender Jamie Carragher has now accepted that Liverpool are 17 points off the pace because they are not good enough to compete with the Mancchester United,Arsenal and Chelseas.
We are not good enough. It is not one particular ‘this’ or ‘that’. It is just that other teams have been playing better than us. We have obviously got to improve both as individuals and as a team. If we can get a result against Chelsea we could maybe try to get on their heels in the table and start reeling them in.
Better luck next season, Carra. As for now, carry on the challenge for the fourth spot.
