For Fulham, relegation from the English Premier League is drawing agonisingly near. Fulham were locked in a relegation 6-pointer against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday but once again failed to find the back of the oppostion’s net and instead let Boro sweep inside their own citadel.
The 1-0 defeat has stationed the Fools in 19th in th Premiership table and manager oy Hodgson in a pool of frustration. Hodgson remarks:
We played well, particularly in the second half.
We passed the ball well, we looked to create chances, and I thought it was a gutsy performance.
But we were always fighting from 1-0 down after conceding the early goal and that gave Middlesbrough the chance to sit in and wind down the clock towards the end and keep their back four and goalkeeper nicely protected.
We do need results. Unfortunately, when you play like we did here it’s very frustrating and very disheartening to come away with nothing.
You are going to have games where you come away with nothing through either a bad performance or bad luck, whereas we came away with nothing through the misfortune of not being able to score the goal.
Fulham are 3 points from safety at the moment and it could get really tight in late April and early May.
