Blackburn Rovers play Arsenal at the Emirates on Monday night and manager Mark Hughes is already moaning about his defensive frailties. He says that Blackburn’s slump in form in November can be attributed to his defendersfalling prey to the Injury God and that had they not been hit by the misfortunes, they could have actually beenhigher in the table.
It has been difficult. We’ve had to make changes, we’ve had people suspended and injured and it hasn’t been a settled defence. It is very hard to get an unbeaten run going when there are a lot of changes, certainly in the back four. But we’ve been able to do it for seven games. We are hoping it is going to be eight; it will be difficult but we’ll be giving our best shot.
What Hughes says is true but you simply have to admit that should Blackburn creep into the top six at the end of the season, they would have overachieved somehow. They are not that good at all!
