Espnayol Barcelona defender Dani Jarque is enjoying possibly the best spell of his club career and has been attracting attention of several top European clubs. Tottenham Hotspur might not feature in the top European league but their manager, the classy Juande Ramos, is certainly looking forward to landing the player in the summer.
Not that it is going to be easy for Ramos. Jarque was linked with a January move to White Hart Lane but nothing specific materialized. This time the central defender has come out and denied that he has even been in talks with Ramos.
Jarque says:
I have not spoken with Juande Ramos but it is nothing new that I am linked to a big club in England. But my dream at the moment is to help Espanyol quality for the Champions League.
Espanyol should at least guarantee a UEFA Cup spot for themselves through their league position in La Liga and that is more than we can say for Premiership strugglers Spurs. And if the “other club” from Barcelona do indeed creep into the top four at the end of the season, then Ramos might as well look to other places for centre halves.
