Norwegian international striker John Carew has seen it all with Valencia and Lyon and knows a thing or two about quality. So when he speaks highly of young Aston Villa team mate Ashley Young, we may as well believe him. Carew even backs the Villa youngster to carve out a permanent place in the England set-up under Fabio Capello.
Carew sings this about his Young:
Ashley is really a young player with a great future. He has done the business for Villa and I think he can do it for England also. People have been talking about David Bentley, who is a very good player, but I think Ashley can have a similar impact with England. He causes defenders lots of problems and is also so dangerous at set pieces. Against Newcastle, the delivery from Ashley for my first goal was fantastic and he has done it so many times over the past year.
The right sided midfielder is still not the finished product but he is certainly a good promise and the fact that the intelligent Martin O’Neill is in charge of Aston Villa, Young would develop even more.
