The BBC report that Didier Hamann will be staying at the City of Manchester for at least another season, after securing a new one-year deal with the club. The German midfielder has been nothing short of outstanding for the Citizens this season, breaking up the opposition play and ably guarding the back four.
‘Didi’ has enjoyed a fine career in England, most notably with Liverpool, where he helped secure the Champions League for the Reds in 2004/5. Will he also help City win some silverware before he hangs up his boots? Probably not, it will take years for them to challenge for the league, the FA Cup is usually won by one of the ‘Big Four’ and they’ll do well to qualify for the UEFA Cup this season, let alone win it next year.
Still – well done City for rewarding one of their players of the season!
