ITV quotes Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez that the club are on the verge of signing a permanent deal with midfielder Javier Mascherano. The 23-year old Argentine international star is currently on loan at the Merseyside club for until the rest of the season from his owner MSI but the Liverpool gaffer says that they are inching closer to an agreement.
Rafa says:
We are closer than we were one week ago but I don’t know how close.I am only going to concentrate on the football. I have got a team to prepare for this weekend’s FA Cup game against Barnsley, and that is what I am thinking about.
So if indeed Liverpool are getting closer to keeping the ace defensive midfielder at Anfield in the long term, then they are certainly going places.
