Sky Sports quotes Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson as saying that his boys deserved that 4-0 defeat of Arsenal in the fifth round of the FA Cup at Old Trafford on Saturday. Arsenal were simply blown away by the Red Devils and Fergie is in an obviously bullish mood.
Sir Alex says:
I think they were all disappointed with themselves last Sunday. They felt flat and the emotions of the week probably took their toll.
But they have made amends and atoned for that in a big, big way.
It was a marvellous performance. They were absolutely superb and everyone can be proud of themselves.
It was a real team effort and it needed to be to beat Arsenal.
The FA Cup victory doesn’t affect that Premiership table though and Man United still remain 5 points behind the Gunners. Yet the victory infuses Man United with optimism and buoyancy.
