Should Arsenal captain have been sent off?

Watch the FA Cup fifth round tie between Manchester United and Arsenal on Saturday? If you did, then you must have been mesmerized by Nani’s one act of exquisite genius. The player juggled the ball around a host of Arsenal players without letting the ball fall to the ground. We were all impressed, weren’t we?

But Arsenal defender Willian Gallas wasn’t. After the ball had been played, he decided to kick the Manchester United midfielder from behind and even the neutrals cried fouled play and harsh punishment for the Frenchman. But the referess was lenient and didn’t dish out a red card to the player.

But was that a red card offence? Man United manager Sir Alex Ferguson certainly thinks so and says:

I thought Gallas should have been sent off. The referee must have a look at that again. He kicked Nani from behind and the referee called both over because they sized each other up. He should have been red-carded.

Any thoughts from you, mates? Should Gallas have been sent off after that challenge?
