Portsmouth manager squashes James rumours

Portsmouth custodian David James has been in awesome form of late and there has been constant speculation on his future. In the month of January, the England international goalkeeper was touted to replace Paul Robinson at Tottenham Hotspur but the potential move never materialized.

Yet the rumour milll has failed to keep James out of the picture. Recently the British press decided to ignore the fact that James signed a contract extension with Pompey and stated that he was to join Spurs in the summer on a free transfer. Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has come out of the blocks and has blasted these reports.

Redknapp says:

I saw something about him going to Spurs in the summer, as he is out of contract. I don’t know where that one has come from. He only signed a new contract with us last year and he will be with us for a long time yet.

Personally, I sympathise with Redknapp and support his anger towards those scribes who are spreading all these rumours. Come on, let there be truth.
