Arsenal play Birmingham City in the English Premier League on Saturday and are expected to win against the Premiership strugglers. Should they the lunchtime kickoff on Saturday, then they shall go 8 points clear at the top and heap loads of pressure on second placed Manchester United to win their away game against Newcastle United later in the evening.
Arsenal manager Wenger insists that although the Gunners need to carry on their good run, the real pressure is on the other title chasers. The Frenchman says:
Yes [the pressure] is on everybody else, but on us as well.
The pressure on us is just to perform, and on the other teams it is that they have to perform as well as hope that we don’t perform – that is a little advantage we have.
It is important that every time you have an opportunity that you take advantage of it. Afterwards you see how much of an impact it has on your opponents.
We are not too concerned about our opponents. We are in situation where the main focus is on our quality. It is important that we keep going forward as a team.
And by others, we mean only and only Manchester United and Wenger is playing a good mind by trying to divert the pressure onto the Red Devils. No wonder they call him the French professor.
