Manchester United are 5 points behind Arsenal in the English Premier League and although there are more than 10 rounds of matches left in the league this season, manager Sir Alex Ferguson is warning against any more slip-ups between now and the rest of the season.
Man United play struggling Newcastle United on Saturday and while the Red Devils are expected to win the Premiership match, Sir Alex doesn’t want complacency to seep into their psyche.
We’re in a position where we can’t afford any more slip-ups. We have to motor on and get some consistency because it’s not easy playing catch-up. We’ve done it in the past and we’ve failed in the past. At the moment Arsenal have the advantage – there’s no doubt about that. They are five points clear but teams will drop points between now and the end of the season – there’s no doubt about that, it’s unavoidable.
Man United have run into a great form since their 2-1 derby defeat to Manchester City in the Premiership two weeks ago. They beat Arsenal in the fifth round of the FA Cup last weekend and then drew 1-1 with Lyon in the UEFA Champions League in midweek. Man United are almost certain to defeat the Geordies this weekend.
