Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-1 extra time victory over Chelsea in the Carling Cup final on Sunday has boosted the morale of the team but more than that it has given star Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov a reason to carry on at White Hart Lane.

Earlier this season, Berbatov was quoted as saying that he would move to another club that matches his ambition but after collecting the first silverware with Spurs. Berbatov has expressed his delight and wish to continue at White Hart Lane.

The former Borussia Dortmund striker says:

I am here, I want to win things and hopefully this is the first of many for me.It means a lot to beat Chelsea, they are a fantastic team. When the final whistle blew it was an incredible feeling. Everyone was happy and it was great to see so many smiles. It’s a major trophy and we wanted European football again. This is our moment, but on Tuesday we start again. We have important games ahead of us. We have big goals ahead of us. The manager is a winner and he knows how to win things. This is his first trophy and I hope it’s the first of many.

Great news for Spurs. Hip! Hip! Hurrah!
