Manchester United are second in the English Premier League at the moment, just 3 points behind leaders Arsenal. Chelsea too are closing on in on the Premiership’s top duo and in this context Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson says that the title could all boil down to goal difference.
We’re scoring a lot of goals and, you never know, it could be an issue. We just want to make sure that, if it goes to goal difference, our own tally is good. I’ve always said that having a superior goal difference is worth an extra point. It could be vital this season with the championship being so close.
At the moment, Man United are on a plus-40 goal difference, 4 more than Arsenal with Chelsea some 19 behind United. So United have an advantage in that area and with the team scoring goals for fun these days, Sir Alex must be confident of maintaining a superior goal difference to his rivals. Yet it is unlikely that the title will ne decided on goal difference.
