Gus Poyet confident of Berbatov stay

Tottenham Hotspur first-team coach Gus Poyet is confident that top striker Dimitar Berbatov will not leave White Hart Lane in the summer. His confidence in the Bulgarian international hitman stems from Sunday’s Carling Cup final defeat of Chelsea.

Poyet says:

I’m sure Berba is going to be here and going to be trying to win even more. He knows he can win things at this club. It was something that was difficult before, but he’s now done it. There were a few players that there were rumours that they were leaving. They stayed and there were a few players that came here in January. I know that all of them now know they made the right decision, because they are already champions. That’s what we want to say to everyone, ‘Come here, we will help you and you will help us to win titles.

May his wish come true. So much so that Berbatov himself has hinted that he may as well remain at Spurs next season too.
