Aston Villa midfielder Patrik Berger wants to resolve his future as soon as possible. The 34-year old former Liverpool striker is unhappy at not getting enough chances to perform at Villa Park this season and is also frustrated by the injuries that have plagued him this season. Yet he wants to resolve his future before the summer when he shall become a free agent.
I am a free agent so outside England I can negotiate with anybody at any time.
But we will see what happens. I have not yet spoken officially with Slavia.
I do not know yet what will happen in the summer, but I want to have my future resolved as soon as possible.
I would not like to stay here any longer.
I am returning after a back injury. Moreover, the guys have been playing very well this season, the results have been excellent and we are just three points behind the Champions League spots.
There is no reason for the coach to make any changes. We have no injuries or suspensions. We have been playing with the same line-up.
So Berger is mincing no words when he says that he is not going to stay at Villa Park beyond this season. Where will he go then? Back to Slavia Parague and to the wilderness? Seems the most likely option at the moment although Portsmouth may just rope themselves into the equation too.
