Alan Hutton, potentially some kind of glory hunter
by sub on February 29th, 2008It has only been weeks since Alan Hutton signed for Tottenham Hotspur from Rangers but he already has a silverware to boast of.
In only his third appearance for Spurs, Hutton notched up the Carling Cup when Spurs beat Chelsea at Wembley last weekend and he is also in line to win the UEFA Cup with Spurs.
And not only that, Hutton could also have the Scottish Premier League title to celebrate at the end of the season should Rangers conquer Scotland. After all, Hutton featured for Rangers in the first half of the season and is eligible for a medal should Ranger win it.
All this makes Alan Hutton very, very happy and makes him remark:
It would be a bit weird to get an SPL medal, having not played for Rangers for the second half of the season.
I suppose they would send the medal in the post to me. It would be strange. But, of course, I’ll accept the medal - who wouldn’t? I certainly won’t be sending it back.
If Tottenham win the UEFA Cup, then I can’t really feel part of that either because I won’t have played in any of the games. You want to get involved and you want to play, so it’s tough.
It would ridiculously strange should Hutton indeed do the personal treble. And you know what? He has every chance under the sun of doing that!

Hutton surely cannot get the UEFA Cup medal, should we win it, if he has not figured for one minute of the competition?

ITS TRUE IF RANGERS WIN THE SPL CUP HE CAN GET A WINNERS MEDAL IF TOTTENHAM WILL THE UEFA CUP THEN HE WILL GET A MEDAL BECAUSE HE WAS INELIGIBLE

Must be a very slow Friday afternoon. Completely pointless article!!! That said, Hutton was entitled to a Carling Cup medal as he would be entitled to an SPL medal should Rangers finish ahead of Celtic. As for a UEFA Cup medal - highly unlikely he would receive one - more’s the pity - as UEFA’s ridiculous ruling will see him omitted from the squad!!!

its up to rangers if they win the title tahey can give medals to who they want.

wait a minute, you can only get a medal if ur in the squad for the final?!?! doesn’t matter if you played in the competition earlier or not.
how can he get a SPL Cup medal?
or has that been changed now??
roy keane and paul scholes have not got a CL medal for 1999 because they were banned from the final

How you managed to conclude from what Hutton said that he is “very, very happy” to be cup-tied in the UEFA Cup and able to win an SPL medal without being at Rangers is a stretch of some kind of logic I’m not familiar with. Would you mind explaining your reasoning? In fact, would you mind explaining how anything he said makes him “some kind of glory hunter” as the title of this ‘article’ suggests?

If Rangers win the UEFA Cup, will Alan be entitled to a medal?
