Portuguese club Montijo might be plying their trade in the fourth division but they do possess a top quality gem. And they are about to wash their hands of that gem.
Bolton Wanderers are the most likely club to embrace Montijo’s 17-year old player Helio Vaz when he leaves the club at the end of the season. The player was on trial at the Reebok Stadium last week and is said to have impressed the Premiership side.
Montijo’s vice-president Pedro Louro says:
We know how good Helio Vaz is.
A report went to Bolton and they showed an interest in seeing him and he spent that last week training with their first team.
And from what we have heard he will be heading back to Bolton at the end of the season so they can see him again.”
It is inevitable that Montijo and Helio will part company at the end of the season, despite the fact we do not have an agreement with any club.
Benfica have also shown an interest and he will possibly go and train with them next week.
So Benfica are also into the equation it seems. Should be a hard choice for the teenager between a Portuguese giant and a English club that might well be playing Championship football next season.
