Chelsea winger Joe Cole is no whinger. The England international midfielder has dismissed all reports of him leaving the club in the summer and insists that he is happy at Stamford Bridge and that he is ready to fight for his place in Chelsea’s starting line-up.
The former West Ham United star says:
I don’t get too much involved with all the dramas around the club.
My job as a player is to try and perform as best as I can when selected.
I played and made a contribution so I am happy with that and happy we got the right result.
The right performances and the right attitude were all there for everyone to see so it was a great response.
It was a great response, not just from the players who played, but from everyone at the club.
We have had a good week to take it all in and we have put in a good performance. The run-in has started and it is a good time to come into form.
Cole was left out of the Chelsea team that lost to Spurs in the Carling Cup final last month and that was the precise reason why there was a speculation in the British tabloids suggesting that Cole would depart Chelsea for good. Joe Cole is a maverick who often have had to play off the bench and for a player of his talent, this is something undesirable. Yet Cole wants to continue at the Bridge. Weird, isn’t it?
