These days the Tottenham Hotspur unit feels that it can win anything under the sun. After all, they defeated mighty Chelsea in the Carling Cup final at Wembley only last month.
Well, Spurs cannot win everything but if you believe their custodian Paul Robinson, then the north London club can win the UEFA Cup this season. Spurs travel to play PSV Eindhoven on Thursday evening and the England international goalkeeper is in a very optimistic mood and remarks:
It’s a massive game and one all players want to play in.
I’m sure we surprised a few people by winning the Carling Cup this season and there’s no reason why we can’t do the same in the UEFA Cup.
PSV are a strong team and a massive club. They always do well in UEFA competitions, whether it’s the Champions League or UEFA Cup.
They’re running away with their league again at the moment and we’re expecting a very tough tie over two legs.
Last season Spurs did reach the last 8 of the UEFA Cup before being knocked out by FC Sevilla whose then-coach Juande Ramos is now at Spurs. Maybe this season Ramos could weave the same Cup magic with the Premiership club too. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
