More joy and honour for Liverpool’s 23-year old Spanish matador Fernando Torres. The Spanish international striker, drafted in by Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez from Atletico Madrid last summer for a record £26.5 million, has been honoured with the Barclays Player of the Month for February.
Last month, Torres was in red-hot form and smashed a hat-trick against Middlesbrough too. He has been one of the few players to have been at the top of his game and deserved the accolade. Torres is also the first Liverpool player other than Steven Gerrard to have notched up the award since Danny Murphy in November 2001.
Torres has demonstrated that he is not another Fernando (Morientes) and that he is one of the best and most potent strikers in the world. Hala Torres!
