The press are queuing up to bring us news of Rafa Benitez and his latest bungled piece of man management. According to The Sun, The Times, The Daily Mail, and countless other papers, Rafa Benitez told Xabi Alonso that his reasons for his delay in travelling out to Milan (the impending birth of his child) arent good enough. Considering that ultra-committed Benitez stayed in Japan for the World Club Championship in 2005 despite his father’s death – there doesn’t appear to be an adequate excuse in existence to satisfy Mr Benitez. The Times reports that Rafa said of the malarkey:
“We were talking, but he had a clear idea.
“He wanted to come if everything was OK, but we can’t wait and wait and wait. The most important thing is to think about what to do with the other players.”
So will all this disruption (not to mention DICs takeover bid) affect Liverpool’s performance against Inter in the San Siro, and will Xabi be set for the chop come the summer?
