Arsenal’s disappointing 1-1 draw with relegation battlers Middlesbrough was their fourth successive draw in the Premiership and leaves them potentially 3 points off the pace since Manchester United have a game in hand.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is visibly frustrated at his team’s inability to amass maximum points in the Premiership once again and the Frenchman rues the dropped points:
We have dropped eight points in the last four games.
When you are in a race with the opponents we have, that is a big disappointment – but we have to keep our spirit and focus,” he said.
I feel the spirit is there and the players are giving everything, but at the moment it’s not working for us.
But we play Chelsea next, so it’s very interesting. We will see at the end of the season what effect today has.
At the moment, Manchester United are top of the table and level on points with the Gunners but the Red Devils do have a game in hand. In the past 6 or so weeks, while Man United have consistently climbed up the ladder, Arsenal have somehow slipped down it. Would Arsenal axe their own foot and let the Premiership title slip out of their grasp?
