So what if Sunderland lost to mighty Chelsea in the English Premier League on Saturday? The Black Cats did exhibit a strong and coherent performance against the London Blues and gave Chel$ki a run for their money.
Sunderland manager Roy Keane looks at the positive side of things and remarks:
We saw the reception the players got at the end off our own supporters and it is not very often your applauded off the pitch after a defeat.
But we gave everything, we had the chances, but we gave away a sloppy goal but against a very good team and we couldn’t ask anymore from our players – I thought they were outstanding.
We conceded at a bad time, after starting quite badly and then after we are thinking it could be a long afternoon but the reaction of the players was outstanding, the intensity, level of the tackling, closing people down and when we did have the ball we played with some good quality and we had chances.
Last week we didn’t create anything but today we did and we have nobody else to blame but ourselves.
But Sunderland need points at this stage and Keane has to start teaching his players that!
