There’s been a police raid at Birmingham FC

The cops arrived unannounced at St Andrews early on Wednesday morning, seizing financial documents which they’ll no doubt go through with a fine toothcomb. The Sun reports that the police are investigating illicit payments made to agents and they’re leaving no stone unturned to make sure the Lord Stevens inquiry is carried out in a proper manner.

Birmingham managing director Karren Brady said: “We are co-operating fully with the police in their investigation, which relates to an unconnected third party.

“No-one at the club has been questioned or arrested.”

Personally, I would have charged the Blues with failing to turn up for the second-half of their match with Newcastle on Monday night. They can expect to be relegated if they continue playing as listlessly, allowing their opponents to come back into the game and hanging on for a point in the end.
