Manic-depressive Chelsea manager Avram Grant was yesterday sounding even more glum, regardless of the footballing spectacle he had just witnessed at White Hart Lane.
Clinging on to title ambitions and lined up for a good shot at the Champions League might be enough for some people but after seeing his Chelsea side squandering 3-1 and 4-3 leads, Grant said:
It’s very disappointing. I don’t know how to explain this. One of our strengths is we defend well against corners and free-kicks but in the last two games Spurs scored five goals from set-pieces.
The only silver lining of the otherwise darkened Grant cloud is at least he can always fall back on a part of Toad of Toad Hall in the Chelsea and Westminster panto this Christmas.
