Did they or didn’t they? If you are to believe Internazionale, then the certainly didn’t. In response to reports earlier this week that the Italian giants had illegally approached the Arsenal midfielder Alexander Hleb prior to Inter’s UEFA Champions League encounter with the Gunners at the San Siro a fortnight ago, Inter have released a statement denying that they ever did such a thing.
Inter Milan have also dismissed reports that Arsenal have lodged an official complaint. The Inter Milan statement on the matter reads:
With regard to yesterday’s report in La Stampa newspaper and today’s articles in the British press, carried also by Italian news agencies, F.C. Internazionale denies having met with the player Alexander Hleb, and has received no letter of complaint from Arsenal.
Hleb is supposed to have held talks with his agent about a possible move to Inter in the summer. So if indeed such an incident occurred, then the player is as much guilty as the Italian club.
