Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez would certainly not be too happy with the news that Argentina’s Olympic team boss Sergio Batista has decided to include Reds star Javier Mascherano in a list of 53 players for the Beijing Olympics.
Of course only 18 will make the final cut but as per rules, three players above the age of 23 would be able to play for the national team in the Olympics. And Batista appears to have chosen Mascherano as one of those three senior players.
Liverpool manager Benitez would certainly be frustrated with the news since a trip to Beijing would create fatigue in one of the best players in his squad. Rafa must surely be dreading an injury to his midfield rock.
