Norwich and Ipswich want Newcastle striker Ameobi who isn’t great, but he isn’t THAT bad!
by Mr Comfort on March 26th, 2008I like Ameobi, he always seems to give his all and he clearly loves the club but clearly it isn’t working out for him at St James’ Park. He is hardly a goal-scoring machine I think we all know that but the gossip linking him with a move to East Anglia seems to be a little harsh on the former England Under 21 star.
Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi is a target for Championship pair Ipswich and Norwich City (various)
Stats can be misleading but the 26 year old forward has managed 46 goals in a Newcastle shirt in 135 starts (and yes about a ton of sub appearances) and whilst these are not startling stats they are hardly Chris Sutton at Chelsea-esque. There must be a Premier League club who would benefit from signing Shola? To consign him to the Championship would be somewhat unfair on a player with Champions League experience (and even a goal at Barcelona!). I think it’s time for an S.O.S – Save Our Shola – Campaign! We must demand he gets a Premier League berth! Which I guess that Ipswich may be able to offer come the end of May!

what dimwit wrote this, if shola was good enough he would be starting in a poor newcastle team, he would always choose norwich ahead of ipswich because of roeder and clark…work it out…

Shola had bags of potential, but a combination of injuries with substitute appearances has stunted his growth. He clearly enjoyed his best spell under Roeder so it would be good for him to be reunited with him in Norwich. And if he starts to bloom again then I am sure the Premiership clubs will come calling for his services.

well said JK, newcastle are as bad as any team in the premiership for scoring goals at the moment & plus player manager relationships can have big influence on transfer decisions. ipsiwch to get promoted ? your having a laugh

He was one of the those players I always stood up for when others were slagging him off - then eventually I just couldn’t defend him any more.
What was more annoying about Shola was that there were times when that first team shirt was up for grabs and he couldn’t find the balls to stake his claim.
His worst ever performance was away at Derby this season. They were there for the taking and he couldn’t be arsed. On a day when the whole team was awful - Shola was far and away the worst.
I would have loved to see it work out for him on Tyneside but he’s had way too many last chances. Time for him to go.
I actually think that Norwich and Ipswich are probably just about his level. Even then - I am not sure he has the commitment to play for a first team week in week out.

Mr, Comfort
Get a grip mate. A little bit tedious mocking Ipswich and Norwich, its about time you and your ignorant lot from the Premier League start recognising, and accepting teams like us.
Average crowds of 24,000 in a lower league is not bad at all. East Anglia is no longer a footballing backwater - that stopped when Ipswich won the league Championship in 1962 (I wouldn’t expect you to remember that).
We are a bigger club than many current Premier League clubs - forgetting the hugely unfair financial balloon that overhangs football.
I couldnt give a toss what you thnk, or any one else. In our league we play proper football, where proper matches take place, real competitive games.
We havea proud Tradition in Football, you probably wouldn’t know that as you clearly are wrapped in your own clubs self-existence - which may i say is pretty laughable.
Your club is a sham.
Your owner is a sham.
Your ego is a sham (Newcastle stopped being one of european super-powers after 1969)
Your manager hadn’t watched a football match until he came to you for 6 years
And frankly, your arrogance is pitiful and Shola would do well to leave that fallen airship that is Newcastle United

Mr Comfort
Youre having a laugh, Shola would struggle to hold down a first team place in a championship team, sooner we get rid the better
