Rafa Benitez has found himself with a ‘good’ problem. Having already got one of the most reliable keepers at his disposal in Pepe Reina (although he did have a rare off day at Old Trafford) he can pretty much cash in on England international Scott Carson. A very capable keeper in his own right you can understand why he is reluctant to sit it out on the Anfield bench so a move away is inevitable and it was seemingly a nailed on certainty he was going to Villa Park but now it appears that deal has fell through and Juande Ramos, in need of a keeper apparently, could be up for putting a bid for the Carson
Aston Villa goalkeeper Scott Carson is preparing to return to Liverpool after Martin O’Neill’s side appeared to be unable or unprepared to meet the £9m asking price (News of the World) which has alerted other Premier League sides including Tottenham to the young keeper.
At last a rumour that involves Tottenham that might actually be worthy of their supporters attention. With the obvious exception to that horrific blunder for the first goal against Croatia (I am talking about Carson here and not Robbo) Scott has impressed me greatly. The fee might seem pricey but given his level of experience and the fact that he is only 22 years old I think that £9m is about right. Teams wouldn’t think twice about spending similar amounts on outfield players and let’s face it, in many ways a reliable keeper is priceless.
