Arsenal midfielder smashes up agent office

by stresster on April 30, 2008

Cesc Fabregas was voted the PFA Young Player of the Year last week, although that has seemingly done little to appease the talented Spanish midfielder. After all, as this footage on YouTube demonstrates, achievements on the pitch pale into insignificance when it comes to having your ‘own tee-vee show’.

Watching Fabregas on this video, you can picture him lobbing a slice of pizza at Sir Alex Ferguson. Nevertheless, ‘The Cesc Fabregas Show: Nike Live’ looks worth tuning into on Sky Sports 1. You can catch it on Monday 19th May, where the Arsenal number four talks about his career to date. The programme will also feature other stars of the game, including Arsene Wenger, a bit like ‘This Is Your Life’ I guess.

COS are particularly interested in how the North London club managed to swipe Fabregas from Barcelona in his formative years, along with some idea over how long the playmaker is planning to stay at Ashburton Grove.

Replace the Arsenal captain and prove to Manchester United that you’re no pushover

by stresster on April 30, 2008

Many Gooners will be calling on Arsene Wenger to follow the above mantra ahead of next season, especially with Arsenal finishing this season potless. It remains to be seen whether the North London club can match the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea over the whole of next season’s campaign, although fans can imagine what it’s like to experience failure followed by success, thanks to a NikeFootball film that we found on YouTube.

Directed by none other than Guy Ritchie, this advert puts the viewer in the place of a footballer who starts off playing for a lower-league team, before scoring a dazzling free-kick in front of an impressed Arsene Wenger. Next thing, you’re donning a Gunners strip and William Gallas is trudging off the pitch - who’s going to take his place? You are!

Click here to find out how this particular cut pans out, and make sure you’re on cue to slot home from a neat Cesc Fabregas assist! It’s just a shame that Arsenal haven’t been more clinical in front of goal this season, or they might still be in with a chance of winning something.

Liverpool after FIVE brits for £65m: Rafa finds two good homegrown talents worth bidding for!

by Dexter on April 30, 2008

Rafa Benitez has been linked with a raft of British talents, from current internationals to up and coming hot prospects.

Gareth Barry (Aston Villa) £15 rated - The Mirror says there is increasing optimism at Anfield that the chance of playing Champions League football next season will be the key to luring Barry to Merseyside from Aston Villa in the summer.

Aaron Ramsey (Cardiff City) £4m rated - Ramsey is lighting up the Bluebirds side and has already been linked with big money moves to Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United. (various)

David Bentley (Blackburn Rovers) £20 rated - According to reports in the The Express, Liverpool want to sign Blackburn Rovers midfielder David Bentley.

Aaron Lennon (Tottenham) £12 rated - The Daily Mail reports today that Liverpool will compete with Newcastle for the signing of Aaron Lennon.

Michael Johnson (Manchester City) £14 rated - Liverpool are a step closer to landing Manchester City midfielder Michael Johnson.
The Sun says Johnson is considering his future at Eastlands over the way manager Sven Goran Eriksson has been treated.

Of these five I think that realistically Rafa would only really be interested in Michael Johnson, a great prospect, and Gareth Barry, at his peak. The others are either not needed because Liverpool has plenty of talent in their given position or is just not really worth considering as a potential Liverpool player. Who out of these five would Anfield fans really like to see in a Liverpool shirt?

Spurs in £40m mega-swap that could catapult Ramos into the top four!

by Mr Comfort on April 30, 2008

The race for £40m rated Samuel Eto’o is beginning to reach boiling point, especially now the Cameroonian is once again going to complete a season without a winner’s medal of any kind and it appears that his Barcelona side is nearing breaking point as many of his teammates consider their futures at the Catalan club. Now another angle has emerged regarding Spurs interest in the star striker.

Tottenham boss Juande Ramos is ready to use Dimitar Berbatov as bait to land Samuel Eto’o from Barcelona. (London Evening Standard)
Ramos has made Eto’o his No1 target to replace Berbatov up front. Spurs are already resigned to losing the Bulgarian international, with Ramos expecting him to join Barcelona or Real Madrid.

It seems that Berbatov is very near the exit at WHL and many Spurs fans I have spoken to seem resigned to losing him. Would Eto’o represent a very real improvement or do Tottenham fans consider Berbs an all round better player to have at the club?

Spurs strong favourites to land £20m midfielder: Ramos is far to clever to make this mistake!

by Mr Comfort on April 30, 2008

Reports have emerged suggesting that Tottenham are now the club most likely to procure David Bentley from Blackburn…I think not!

Spurs boss Juande Ramos is determined to win the race to sign England’s emerging star David Bentley, who is ready to quit Blackburn in the summer, and the north London side are apparently favourites to beat Liverpool to sign the England international.

Although manager Mark Hughes has said recently that he expects Bentley to stay at Rovers it is thought that the lure of a return to London could prove too much for the young midfielder. (Express)

Given Juande’s recent intelligent capture of Luka Modric for a club record fee I find it very hard to believe that the Spaniard would spend a huge wad of Daniel Levy’s money on a player who could prove more hassle than he’s worth.

Arsenal to edge out Spurs in chase for £20m star: Can Ramos clinch another Modric style coup?

by Mr Comfort on April 30, 2008

The race for Real Madrid star Robinho is heating up with the frontrunners coming from north London.

Real Madrid superstar Robinho may be making his way to the Premier League next season, with Arsenal and Tottenham leading the chase for his signature

If the temperamental Robinho becomes further unsettled, the La Liga club may cut their losses and listen to offers in the region of £20 million.

Spurs chief Damien Comolli is a well publicised admirer of Robinho and if he does become available then Tottenham are expected to make a move. (East London and West Essex Guardian)

It appears the promise of Champions League football is apparently a motivating factor for the Brazilian so for the time being at least a move to Spurs seems unlikely. However after the signing of Luka Modric maybe Juande Ramos has the kind of proven track record to give the White Hart Lane side more of an edge in any potential bidding war. Do fans of either club like the idea of the 24 year old signing up?

Liverpool want £12m Premier League striker: Would work very well with Torres!

by Mr Comfort on April 30, 2008

Rafa Benitez has been linked with just about everyone and it was only a matter of time before this hot shot was going to appear the radar

Manchester United and Liverpool are set to do battle for Blackburn Rovers striker Roque Santa Cruz come the opening of the summer transfer window. (various)

It is believed both will make bids in the region of £12 million.

Santa Cruz has been one of the buys of the season and even though he has apparently committed himself to the Ewood Park outfit could he really turn down a move to a Champions League side? Surely a better buy than David Bentley! Would Liverpool fans welcome such a bid? Is there anything to this rumour or do you think it’s mere paper talk?

Liverpool close in on bargain buy: Looks like a decent signing

by Mr Comfort on April 30, 2008

It appears that Rafa Benitez is getting nearer and nearer to picking a new right back on a free.

Liverpool are a step closer to landing Borussia Dortmund fullback Philipp Degen on a Bosman.
The 25-year-old is believed to be signing for Liverpool on July 1 after his contract with the Dortmund comes to an end. (various)

The 25 year old appears to be more of a squad player than a spectacular signing especially as Rafa has a number of players to pick from in that position. However does this signing mean that Rafinha is no longer a potential target? What do Liverpool fans think?

Spurs face competition for £5m man: Is he really worth fighting for?

by Mr Comfort on April 30, 2008

Tottenham have been chasing keeper Carlos Kameni for some time now, but now another Premier League side has joined the race.

Aston Villa are ready to beat Tottenham for Espanyol’s £5m-rated Cameroon international goalkeeper Carlos Kameni. (Daily Mail)

Clearly Tottenham need a keeper and the Espanyol man would be a decent, if unspectacular signing, and it did seem a few weeks ago that this was a done deal. There are a number of keepers out there linked with both clubs who have both seen an upturn in fortunes and are both clubs who have been rejuvenated and are far more likely to attract top class names. But is Carlos a top name

How do Chelsea beat Liverpool tonight in SIX WORDS!

by Mr Comfort on April 30, 2008

Long-winded people are boring, and writing full sentences is for chumps. So instead you have just SIX words to sum up what Chelsea need to do tonight to get past Liverpool. Sound easy? Good for you.

So whether it’s a tactical masterstroke or a playing style or simply a good old dig at the opponents, let us know, but remember you must make it short and sweet.

You could probably write an essay about this. Well, tough, you only have SIX WORDS! Concise and creative, or just plain hilarious, it’s up to you now so leave your masterpiece in the comments.
