After watching his side self implode defensively on Sunday (with the help of Paul Robinson) Ramos must have admired the performance of his opponents Newcastle as it appears that he may be one of many managers monitoring their young centre back Steven Taylor
Steven Taylor’s contract talks have stalled after the centre back demanded upwards of 50k a week, leading many sides including Tottenham FC, Middlesbrough and Portsmouth to consider lining up bid for the England Under 21 international (The People)
Speaking about the ongoing contract negotiations Taylor said: “The longer I hear nothing from the club the more I fear they want to sell me. If there is no offer on the table by the summer then I will have no choice but to look at my options.” (various)
Taylor is a pretty decent defender on his day I guess Newcastle fans would debate whether he is consistent enough. He has been pretty solid these past couple of weeks but less commanding in some of their embarrassing reverses (5-1 and 6-0 against Man United spring to mind as does the 4-1 loss at Villa Park). Is he worth that large a wage? I guess Kevin Keegan is thinking about that as we speak!
