Wasn’t Avram Grant meant to improve Chelsea?
by Dexter on April 4th, 2008Fenerbache’s ex-Chelsea striker stuck his boot in after his side beat the Stamford Bridge fat cats in Istanbul - the Serb, clearly a devotee of ‘the Special One” claimed that:
“Chelsea without Mourinho are not the same. Under him, they were a machine. There were no surprises, no mistakes. Everything worked fantastically. Now they have ups and downs. We’ve watched the last couple of games and against Middlesbrough and Sunderland they made four or five mistakes.
“There’s not the same spirit in the team any more. There are rows at training. It’s not the machine it used to be. You can see that something is not working. If [Frank] Lampard goes out of the game after 75 minutes it means something is wrong. If Mourinho had been in charge of this match of course it would’ve been different. He is a very different coach.”
Hang on a minute - wasn’t Avram meant to improve Chelsea? Wasn’t the glum Israeli meant to bring glitz, glamour, and razzmatazz? Right now Chelsea are as avant garde as a plastic poncho at a rainy Theme Park.

So Chelsea haven’t played a more attacking style of football then?
Odd, seeing as i believed we had been, and seeing as Grant hasn’t yet had the chance to really make the team his own i will reserve my judgement on him until after the summer.
And as i said before, doesn’t it strike you as funny that Kezman had no comments on Chelsea untilm his team were drawn against us in champions league? Hm…do you think he might be trying to rile them up by any chance?

BBC: So what are you up to these days Sam?
Sam: Well its been hard lately as the pork pie franchise I planned is down the tubes
BBC: Have you thought about a return to management?
Sam: Well I did expect a call from the Pensioners after they got rid of that Jose bloke, but then they went and brought in whatshisname. That is not really fair to the likes of me and Steve. After all we were the cream of English management. But then Steve is OK his umberella franchise is doing well and he has a new line of hair dryers lined up, and I think he is in the running for chief ball-boy at Mansfield
BBC: You say it is not fair. Why? Do you think you could do better than Avram?
Sam: Yeh, well really they are now playing uglyball, a style I invented, and I bet Capello will steal that idea too.
BBC: You sound bitter
Sam: Yes I suppose. Please pass that last bit of pork pie over.

David kirby - Don’t quit your day job, that was awful.
Grant hasn’t had the summer transfer window to change his side, you can’t take a team that are used to playing one way and change them and while doing so carry on winning matches, it’s just not going to happen and to be fair on Grant, he’s just the face of Chelsea management, he’s obviously not doing everything the way he wants to, Cate is there, RA obviously has his input too, Grant is there to take the stick if anything goes wrong. It’s a shame that RA and Mourinho had such big egos, Chelsea were quite the force and Kezman was right, they were such a machine, they looked unbeatable, also, Mourinho would never allow his side to concede 4 at home either and they very rarely lost a game when they took the lead. First season without him and it looks like they’ll finish trophyless.
