Lanky goal-poacher Peter Crouch gave a neat reminder to Rafa Benitez that all this time buggering about on the bench hasn’t blunted his touch with a 20-yard peach against Arsenal at the Emirates. Crouch said:
“It’s been frustrating. I’ve not played for a while and I enjoyed today.
“It’s difficult, I’m not going to lie. I want to play in big games not watch them and thankfully I was part of it today.
“If the manager plays one up front Fernando Torres is going to play the majority of games because he’s a top-quality player.
“I’ll have to see what happens but I’ll work hard to the end of the season.”
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez claims that he still wants to keep hold of Crouch because “sometimes we will play with two up front” but is that really enough to convince the lanky one to stay?
