West Ham, Everton and Aston Villa battle it out for £6m Rangers ace
by Mr Comfort on April 6th, 2008Kris Boyd is a goalscoring phenomenon, 72 starts and 66 goals, but perhaps more phenomenally he isn’t getting a regular first team place at table topping Rangers. And it appears it might be beginning to affect the former Killie hitman.
Boyd said “Look, the team has been winning so nobody can say the gaffer has got it wrong. I certainly am not saying that.
“But I don’t think he or anybody else at the club would be happy if I wasn’t frustrated. Of course I’m frustrated. I want to play.” (Daily Record)
There is a long queue of clubs interested in the 24 year old striker. With Birmingham, West Ham, Aston Villa, Middlesbrough and Everton all supposedly keeping tabs on the Scottish international.

We sold Mcfaden for around 5mil in January, theres no way moyes would pay £6mil for the lad…sorry, for that sort of money, he’d want a proven prem player or player from abroad….no offence indended!

bluenose - April 6th, 2008 at 10:40 pm

bluenose. mad - April 6th, 2008 at 10:52 pm
6million is cheap for a good striker
Peter McAleer - April 7th, 2008 at 3:08 am
Kris Boyd is twice as good as big Dunc so if Walter is daft enough to let him go for a mere 6 - 8Million you’d be getting a bargain for goals scored. Poacher supreme & not pushed about either as he is a big strong lad unafraid to put his head in.

Sell AJ to the Hammers for £10m and get Kris Boyd in for £6m… sounds like good business to me. Then just make sure we get some midfielders that can actually pass the ball to our forwards.

Whilst boyd lacks some other attributes, he is probably one of the best finishers in the world, if you create chances for him, he will score, with players like arteta at everton, he would get goals galore even in the premiership

He has no work-rate, do not want him anywhere near Villa thank you

If he’s so good why is he NOT a regular starter for Rangers and/or Scotland ???
Bowen - April 7th, 2008 at 1:32 pm
Don’t any Rangers fans have a go, as I’m only passing on an opinion from a massive Rangers fan who goes week in, week out (Stuart McCall’s nephew, mind) but he hates Boyd. Constantly off side and at times has an awful touch and looks like a pub team player. Thats not to say he can’t score goals though. I say stay away and let Vaughan & Anichebe finally get a decent run in the side, if they can stay fit.
james - April 7th, 2008 at 2:52 pm
hopefully he won’t come to west ham why dont curbs go out and sign a good forign player like alves of boro and no scotish player would get in our starting 11 in front of the players weve got at the moment

Bowen, i think your source is being a bit harsh. Boyd has his flaws…link up play, passing and pace can be awful at times. however as a penalty box striker and finisher then he’s outstanding. he’s one of the most natural finishers i’ve seen since Fowler
WATP - April 7th, 2008 at 3:21 pm
Boyd doesnt get a regular game as the 4-5-1 system used by The Rangers doesnt suit his style of play (just scoring goals)
You give him the ball and he will score though
James - April 7th, 2008 at 3:36 pm
Boyd struggles when being used as a lone striker, it doesn’t suit his game. However, get the ball wide, cross it in to the box and the ball finds its way to Boyd more often than not. A natural finisher if ever there was one. Work rate is questionable at times, link up play could be much better, he won’t be involved for 90% of the game and he does give away a number of needless fouls. However, he’s got an outstanding knack of being in the right place at the right time and he’ll score goals for whoever he plays for at whatever level. I think it was Mark Hateley who said, “Playing with Kris Boyd in the side is like having a goal start but then playing the rest of the game with 10 men.” In the right system in the right team Boyd would be a massive success. Unfortunately for Boyd, Rangers and Scotland prefer one through the middle so he’s finding himself sitting on the bench more often than not. However, any team interested in Boyd might have a problem as the guy is Rangers through and through and doesn’t want to leave. The best bet might be Birmingham seeing as McLeish is in charge.

Boydie is going nowhere - unless the ball is in the box for him, then he offers nothing to the squad
in fact, and I hate to say it, it is like playing with a man down
Boyd wouldn’t hack it in the EPL unless he improved his link-up play outside the box

Rangers completed the signing of the SPL’s leading scorer Kris Boyd from Kilmarnock in January 2006.
The 22-year-old put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half-year contract at Ibrox after Kilmarnock agreed a compensation package worth in the region of £500,000
By the end of the 2006/07 season, Boyd had scored 37 goals in just 49 games and will be hoping to continue this blistering form in 2007/08.

To be reall honest, as a Villa fan, i wuld love to see Kris Boyd at Villa Park. With Young and Barry bangin’ balls in the box he’s an amazing poacher and would score hundreds for us. And for £6m!! What a bargain!!
