Keegan’s recipe for Newcastle success? Two craptastic Liverpool players!
by Dexter on April 8th, 2008The fountain of journalistic truth, The Sun, reckons that Kevin Keegan’s masterplan for success will start with the signing of a typically superfluous wide skillster. The man that King Kev has chosen to be this generation’s David Ginola? Liverpool lackey Jermaine Pennant. The Sun reckons that:
“King Kev is desperate for owner Mike Ashley to hand him a transfer kitty now safety is secured and hopes to give Liverpool’s £6million-rated winger Pennant, 25, a fresh start on Tyneside.”
They also reckon that Kev would be partial to a bit of John Arne Riise too, thereby doing Rafa Benitez a huge favour and paying to get rid of Liverpool’s deadwood.

What a load of shit! Seriously where do you guys get this crap from?? I don’t believe a word, we will never go for garbage like Pennant. Risse ain’t bad, but he’s past it now, would have been good a couple of years back.

“Liverpool’s deadwood.” ???????????????
A bit harsh? John Arne Riise was one of many reasons when Liverpool won the champions league final in 2005, he have been a key for Liverpool since 2001, but struggles to play as much as he wants to. Aurelio have impressed in some games and played more then anyone(maybe especially Riise) could have predicted. Deadwood? that is bullsh.. if you ask me.. Pennant was one of the best players in the CL-final against AC Milan last year, when he had his managers confidence in Birmingham he was the player with most assists in the Premiership.. Deadwood? The talent is surely there, but especially Pennant have been to inconsistent in the Liverpool shirt..
I hope they can get a new start(maybe in Newcastle) and think Keegan knows a talented player when he sees one, enough said…

SHOVE PENNANT WHEREVER YOU WANT BUT DONT SEND HIM TO THE TOON!!!!!!!
DONT MIND A BIT OF RIISE THOUGH , TOP PLAYER, GRAFTER AND HE CAN BANG IT FROM ANYWHERE.
BUT HOW OLD IS HE ??
CANT UNDERSTAND WHY RAFA WANTS RID OF HIM.

To JP… from The Rock of Gibraltar!!
You ask where this shit comes from and there it is in black and white, The Sun, i think if your going to have a go at anyone i would guess The Sun would be the ones to complain to?

Riise is a great player it’s just a shame he can’t get into the Liverpool team. As a geordie I’d love to have him playing for us. Pennant on the other hand probably not. Too inconsistant even for us!!!!!
We’ll kindly take Stevie G off your hands - I wish!!
Good Luck against French, I mean Asenal, stick it to ‘em!

Just a few comments to a few of the messages on her. Ferdy as Liverpool fans we always have a go at the Sun after Hillsborough so probably why we won’t recognise anything they say. Riise has not played well for over 18 months now which is why he isn’t playing he is only 27 believe it or not, but on current form is badly struggling which is why he isn’t playing. I think it could be the classic case of a player going stale at a club if he went to Newcastle I think he could do well. We have a youngster coming through anyway who is a hot prospect at left back so I think Rafa has one eye on him. Pennant please take him as he aint good enough for us. Can’t say Pennant was mom in the CL last year though he wasted many a g ood opportunity to put a decent ball in (managing just one). Mascherano was MOM only when he went off did Kaka find space to put the ball through for the second goal.

JAR is no longer a great player, indeed he never really was. He is incapable of doing anything with his right foot and his famed free kicks and power shots are barely existant. This could be largely down to Benitez’s tactics but one thing is for sure in my mind: he’s no longer the right man for Liverpool. He’d be a quality signing for Newcastle.

So they moderated my first contribution out..let me put it another way then, look at the source of this story…if you’re dismissive of the Sun as a newspaper, Ned, then don’t base a so-called serious article on its contents.

He is still on loan and his name is Insua. The player we bought is Leto but cannot play yet because of passport problems.

Sorry, dont see it happening,Pennant is running out of clubs,a player who never quite lived up to expectations, not a bad club player to have on the bench, but not a starter.
Riise, decent attacking wing back who seems to be having his problems lately, inconsistent, not on target with goal attempts, not bad defensively but probably not going to be any better. L`pool will be asking for big bucks, think there are better deals out there.
