What Manuel Almunia needs is a stronger chinbeard. The one he is currently sporting is weak and spineless and if he wants to survive the constant mental abuse from his crazed Teutonic rival Jens Lehmann he needs something more robust. Look at Rafa’s trusty chinbeard, it has replaced Pako Ayesteran as number two at Anfield, and can deflect even the most vitriolic abuse. Almunia’s stubbly chin accoutrements, however, might not be able to handle things for much longer, especially as Lehmann clearly despises his Spanish teammate.
Almunia stuck his head out from behind his chinbeard and said:
“I’m an easy-going person.
“I like to treat everyone with respect and I see everyone as equals. I treat people the way I would like to be treated myself. To have someone here who hates me is just amazing. I know he hates me.”
How much longer can Almunia hold out before he cracks?
