James Beattie - was he treated badly at Everton?
by Dexter on April 12th, 2008Everton gaffer Davie Moyes has had a pop back at James Beattie, a clodhopping shire horse of a striker, who recently claimed that:
“I don’t think I was treated with the respect I deserved during my time with Everton.”
Moyes seemed a bit shocked to hear such tripe from an ex-player, especially one given ample chance to impress, and retorted with a restrained swipe. Moyes said:
“It surprised me to hear those comments. I don’t like talking about players at other clubs, but what I will say is that we always do well by players while they are here.”
A case of sour grapes from Beattie, a man who plumbed new depths of craptastic striking whilst at Goodison?

TREATED BADLY ?? I think Everton where the one’s treated badly.
Beattie cost £7 million and was paid over £40,000 a week, and what for ??
A Championship Carthorse who couldn’t hack it in the big time, he was more interested in his fancy car than repaying the club who had shown alot of faith in him !!
Good riddance ya Donkey !!!

i think he’s pissed off with himself for signing onto a struggiling team like birmingham who will be relegated this season and he will probably never play in the premiership again for 4 or 5 seasons

I dont think he was treated badly as Moyes gave him more than his fair share of chancs at Everton..I think the only thing that bugged me when we signed Beattie was I couldnt see why we did exactly that..Sign him… We do blame Beattie for being poor but maybe Moyes should have thought harder about bringing him in or bringing a winger in when he signed Beattie to give him crosses from the by-line after all we cant blame Beattie for not being a success in the lone striker role with little service to feed on..
